Max Payne. The film adaptation of the highly successful video game series is finally here. And I’m a bit shocked, because, well, it actually looks like it’s captured the tone and atmosphere of the game. Could this video game adaptation end up… good?

MASTERRRRRRR!!!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE ?

Well, it appears that good ol MG is at it again. This week he has used his superior infiltration skills to sneak his way into gaming history.

MASTERRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

To unlock this Codec conversation in the Classic MGS1 you have to simultaneously press every button on the PS1 controller. While doing a head stand. And repeating the Japanese alphabet. Backwards. In double time.

In the nude…

Seriously, why would we make this shit up? First person to send in a photo of themselves accomplishing this astonishing feat will receive absolutely nothing but our respect and admiration.

Who remembers scouring dungeons as an axe-wielding barbarian and bludgeoning goblins, zombies and other vile creatures spawning out of the dark? I certainly do. Diablo and its sequel Diablo II were some of the best games the PC had to offer back in the day. Finally, eight years after the release of Diablo II, the series finally returns with a true sequel, and it looks set to return gamers to the familiar, gothic fantasy world of Sanctuary with a few new surprises in store.

Full details haven’t been offered yet, but a two player classes have been confirmed: Barbarian and witch doctor. The gameplay still remains top-down, but has been streamlined to allow for more fluidity with attacks and spells.

Unfortunately, there’s no release date set for the game, but here’s some goodies to keep you entertained.

When Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty came out in 2001, a great deal of the fanbase reacted in outrage and confusion. Since then, we have eagerly, awaited an explanation for the convoluted ending of Sons of Liberty, and the opportunity to take control of Solid Snake once again. In 2004, Hideo Kojima returned us to the world of Metal Gear, only for us to discover that it was a prequel focusing instead on the notorious Big Boss, Snake’s ‘father’. It was unexpected, but greeted favourably. However, fans still wanted Kojima to continue with Solid Snake’s story. Finally, in 2008, what has been described as the most anticipated video game in history has arrived at last, and it was worth the seven year wait. Hideo Kojima’s latest effort is, quite simply, a solid masterpiece.

Snake? Snake! SNAAAAAAKE!!!

It’s Metal Gear fever all over the world right now, and having played (and finished) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots it only seems fitting to award Solid Snake with the weekly award. Why does he deserve it? Well, when you look at Solid Snake, you’re looking at a man who’s seen it all and done it all. Saved the world (several times) from nuclear terrorist threat? Check. Killed father in a blaze of glory? Check. Hidden in a cardboard box? Check. Even under the moniker of Old Snake, he demonstrates his duty and sheer sense of honour by imparting his wisdom onto the young, and carrying out his orders without complaint, even in his darkest hour with only months left to live.

Perhaps Snake’s greatest accomplishment is simply being, as without Snake there would be no Metal Gear Solid, and without Metal Gear Solid the gaming industry would be suffering a serious lack of quality and finesse.

He’s also the only person, in history, who can pull off that moustache and still be taken seriously.

There are other reasons that Snake wins Person of the Week, but to delve into them would be to ruin the story of Metal Gear Solid 4. Go out and play it, and witness for yourself why he rates so highly here at Master Giraffe.

To be completely honest, I’ve seen this coming for a while.

It’s good to see they stuck with the continuity set up by Metal Gear 2!

According to Microsoft’s Robbie Bach (who also steadfastly denied that the 360 would be supporting Blu-Ray despite HD-DVD losing the High Definition war), but did address rumours of motion sensitive controllers being introduced to the console.

Motion Controllers for 360?

Bit of a silly bandwagon to be jumping on if you ask me. PlayStation’s Sixaxis sucks and the Wii Remote is barely used to the capacity it could be. Maybe Microsoft should instead focus on making a console that doesn’t break down all the time.
